Please Note: Hearing aids and cochlear implant processors are not built to provide well articulated audio signals below the 250Hz threshold and rarely any signal at all below 150Hz where many key diagnostic sounds are found:
For this reason, connecting an amplified stethoscope to hearing aids and cochlear implant processors using Direct Audio Cords, Telecoils, or a Bluetooth Streaming accessory will be counterproductive.
Stethoscopes using ear buds or traditional ear tips will require that the hearing aids be removed in order to communicate a full spectrum of amplified sound.
Stethoscopes using headsets can be worn over Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) models of Behind-The-Ear (BTE) hearing aids and hybrid cochlear implants where residual low frequency hearing has been preserved. All other styles of hearing aids that seal the ear canal will act like earplugs when used with a headset.
